Rachel’s House Trust, based in Rangiora, North Canterbury, is a Non-Profit organization that is committed to the holistic support of new parents. We are an inclusive and accessible service that is equipped to provide practical assistance, advocacy, counselling, mentoring, pregnancy & parenting support groups, and material needs. Rachel`s House Trust offers a safe, empowering environment where expectant and new parents can plan and prepare for their future as they welcome their baby from womb to world.
Our Services
Rachel’s House Trust (RHT) is a Non-Governmental service that began in 2008 as a full wrap around service in response to a need in the local community for accommodation and support for our pregnant teens. RHT works alongside other community organizations, complementing what is provided. The Trust assists and connects with expectant mothers, providing ongoing support for young parents, and their children.
Mentoring & ConnectionMentoring can be provided through trained volunteers who offer a relationship of stability and life experience. Peer support is encouraged through our Mum`s & Bubs support group and our Mum`s & Minis playgroup. The Drop In & Kai PantryWe are extremely fortunate to have 'The Drop In & Kai Pantry which is open three mornings a week Wed- Fri, 10am -12pm. Come and check it out upstairs in Rangiora Gables Arcade, in our RHT Hub which is our centre of activity where our office and groups run from. As people generously donate all sorts of pregnancy, baby necessities, (including furniture, clothing and toys), and non perishable food that RHT has the privilige of passing on to appreciative families. We have clothing from new born to size 5, along with maternity clothing. Come and fill your bags while connecting with our friendly volunteers or staff. Deliveries from our open Kai Pantry can be arranged for families once a week. Contact us. |
Counselling & Support
Our counsellors provide individual sessions exploring issues such as grief and loss, alcohol and drug issues, and relationship / parenting issues. We offer one to one crisis support, either in person or by phone. Support and advice is provided when working with agencies such as Oranga Tamariki and WINZ. We provide information to parents enabling them to make connections with a wide range of community services and Governmental agencies that are available to support their specific needs. |
Pregnancy & Parenting support groupsWe aim to strengthen young parent’s knowledge and ability by building on their skills and the desire to do the best for themselves and their children. We believe in change, that it is possible and vital for growth. For those who seek it, and want support to learn new ways, we aim to stand alongside being cheerleaders for positive change, empowering families to build stronger bonds. At Rachel`s House Trust we know, and have experienced that whether parenting a baby, teenager or adult, all parents do better with encouragement, support, and community connections. This is a lifelong need of great parents, for whom learning never ends, and so as a service we remain alongside young families as they grow in stability for as long as is needed. |
